The sealable papers and bags that people buy are now the least safe type of paper bags available, according to a report published today by the International Paper and Plastic Association (IPPA).
The report says the new plastic products, which are often purchased by people who can’t wash them properly, pose a health risk.
“The use of sealable bags is no longer a reliable way to ensure safe use,” IPPA Director General Jean-Pierre Pouillon said.
“It is a waste of valuable time, energy and effort to have a disposable bag in the house.”IPPA has launched an online petition calling on U.S. and international governments to ban the use of plastic bags in their homes.
In the United States, there is a ban on the use and sale of sealant plastic bags that is scheduled to take effect in 2019.
